Hello Possums

Gosford Rental - Best time to look?

I want to rent a 2 bedroom apartment in the Gosford area. It's been suggested to me that the prices might be lower after the summer holiday period, because everyone wants to be by the beach so to speak around that period.

So maybe I should wait till Feb to flat hunt.. Is that a sound theory?

Current Comics... I've read this month

I'm going to be making this quick and short, I have to run for the bus stop in about 20 minutes, and it seems the only time I have a little bit of coherency to chat about my recent comic reading is early in the morning.

Superman: Secret Origin #2 (of #6)
Well, I liked that the Legion visited Clark and he was dragged away on a little adventure, and I read this just before re-watching the season 8 episode of Smallville 'Legion'. Which was kind of cool. But... I have a 'But'... it's obvious the artist is going for the Christopher Reeves look, but it's not working, the result is one butt ugly child! I don't care if I sound shallow, I can't imagine Clark Kent was ever an ugly child. And this comic, it's every damn page, and takes me right out of the story. I'm hoping the next issue, as the Clark is drawn 'older', the kinks will be worked out and his face won't looked so pinched inwards.

World's Finest #1 (of #4)
The team up of Red Robin (aka Tim Drake) and the new Kryptonian Nightwing to rescue his partner Flamebird. I liked this, wish it wasn't going to be just 4 issues. Anyway, looking forward to the next one.

Supergirl #46 - The Hunt for Reactron conclusion
So, inspired by the show Smallville this year, decided to start picking up comics again. Especially Superman comics, and it's been decades since I've read any Superman comics. Of course when made this decision, I was fully aware my Superman was not actually currently in any of his books at the moment. But I thought what the hell, it might work as an jumping on point, and I'll get to know more about his supporting cast.

So far it hasn't been too bad. Especially with some of the characters I've really begun to like, like Nightwing and Flamebird. It took me awhile, but I finally have really started to get into their story. Anyway, the Supergirl book, was not picking it up, till I realised I was kind of missing some story, so have added it to my standing order. And yes indeed I did like this issue of Supergirl. Some things in it I liked a lot!

And I've ran out of time, so I'll have to leave this at to be continued...

(Next: World of New Krypton, Superman, Action Comics, Adventure Comics, Red Robin, Superman Blackest Night - don't let me forget!)

Hello Possums

So... what do I know.

So what do I know.... giraffes are tall! True fact!

Meanwhile, I've been reading online this morning that the show "V" (not to be confused with that energy drink I love, and tastes like passionfruit) got some big ratings... 14 million viewers! Well, 14 million viewers if you like alien takeovers, watch season 9 of "Smallville" and Kneel Before Zod.

Lately have been struggling to find something to read on public transport to and from work, I'm in a superhero mood. Finally sorted myself out last night and dived into the chaos that is my comic collection (serious collectors, look away if you don't want to have a heart attack, I abuse my comics). Put together a bunch of reading which includes two Superman trades, a bunch of Superman/Batman issues from 2005 and some very recent Superman annuals/specials, including the Nightwing and Flamebird secret origin, that I'd not actually read properly. A cappuccino and some Superman and I'm going to be a happy commuter.

And jumping into some TV Show commentary: Last episode of "Heroes" was the weakest for me, but that would be because I'm not really a big fan of Hiro and the insertion of a very unnecessary subplot regarding a character I do love... but not so much this week. Other than that the show held my interest, the last scene made me laugh out loud. As for Heroes fandom, I've not been paying a lot of attention, other than what I've been picking up in my peripheral vision... yeah... storm in a teacup dudes!

I had high expectations for the last episode of "Smallville", and WOW the episode actually went beyond my expectations. I'm now super psyched for episode 9x07 "Kandor" this weekend, we are finally going to get into the meat of the season's ongoing story arc. It's going to be GOOD! Previously season 8 was my favourite season, but so far season 9 has been even better! How does it do that!

Smallville 9x01 Savior: Zod's Stuff... I'm trying not to be spoilerish here, so this title sucks.

Um... things I wanted to mention last night about some things in the Smallville episode, but I chose to go to bed instead and now everything in my head has gone *poof!*

Hello Possums

Superman: Secret Origin #1

Read "Superman: Secret Origin #1" last night, and it was awesome. Had a nice little Smallville Chloe shout out too, if you were paying attention to what was written on the cast you would of seen it.

I just have one minor complaint, I didn't like the way Clark's face was drawn, it looked pinched, not a good look (guess I've become used to Tom Welling's angelic good looks). Other than that the art was fantastic.

A Peek at Superboy the Live Action TV Show from 1988-1992

Got my hands on an episode of the live action tv series Superboy, episode 2x01 "With This Ring, I Thee Kill" last night. Don't ask me how, just know that it was painful and took days.

Superboy (Gerard Christopher)

Anyway the episode (show) was truly dreadful. Lex Luther who was obviously a new actor taking on the role from the previous season (note actor as Superboy/Clark also new actor), using the clever plot device of plastic surgery, gave the most joyful and maniacal performance I have ever seen in my life! And the pretty red-headed Lana Lang was at her soap opera best with angsty dramatic pauses. Clark Kent was... a bit more than mild mannered, he was a caracature of the geekiest nerd with a double-shot of meek (but actually likeable).

Clark Kent & Lana Lang (Stacy Haiduk*)

After all that I hardly remember how Superboy was portrayed, I was so gobsmaked and appalled by everyone else to pay proper attention, though I found he was not really in this episode a lot. I think Lex Luther had the most screen time. What I do remember is the plot revolved around some missiles or missile launcher being named after "Superboy" (real Superman would never have approved of that!**).

When it came to the "next week on Superboy" bit, with a scene of a unconscious Superboy and a doctor saying "He'll never walk again" I may of fallen off my chair.

Seriously, I must see more of this series, it might be awful, but it was totally cracked entertainment.

* Stacy Haiduk also the other female FBI agent in season 1 of Heroes. That's cool, a link to Heroes!
** Yes I know Superman is a fictional character.

Hello Possums

Brian Austin Green

How cool is it, Brian Austin Green (who was awesome as Derek Reese in Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles) going from fighting against cyborgs... to becoming one (John Corbin aka Metallo) on Smallville.

It's the next day, and I'm still geeking out about it.

Still excited, so excited, have to add a picture to this post...

2009... the year of the Paramedic?

I've been noticing a lot of paramedics on tv this year. What is with that. Not that I'm complaining.

First we have Peter Petrelli of "Heroes", then Davis Bloom the charismatic paramedic of "Smallville", and now the paramedic in a new show called "The Listener" (a show about a paramedic who is also a telepath).

My Big Book of Superman

I lost most of the comics I had when still a child, but I still managed to keep a hold of one of my first ever introductions to Superman, which was "Superman Supercomic" (Giant 324 Action Pages...), it was some sort Australian reprint published by Murray Comics. Seeing my name is written inside the cover with the year, I know I was reading this when I was 9-10 years old. Now the old thing is falling apart.

Anyway, thought I'd share a page with you guys, a bit of crack (and there is a lot of it in this big book!) for today. To set this page up, Lois went undercover for some story, but got amnesia during the investigation and is now convinced she is actually her own cover 'Sheila'. Superman is trying to bring her memory back, he tries all sorts of things.

Smallville season 1 to Smallville season 8... they grow up!

Just came across a poster for season 8 Smallville, I just had to compare this poster image of the cast to a cast picture of season 1... they are so different! Only two of the cast from season 1 remains.

Feeling chatty... lets talk about Super Heroes.

1. I have the animated Wonder Woman at home ready to watch, not seen that yet. But wondering what to watch first when I get home, as I'm in the mood for all. So what should I watch first: Wonder Woman, Smallville "Identity" (btw: I think season 8 is my favourite season), or some Dragonball Z?

2. Because of Smallville I've actually been put in the mood to go back and watch some of my Dragonball Z dvds. I think it's the whole Doomsday thing that has reminded me of it. You know what happens to Goku and his sons when they have a tail and it's a full moon... doesn't that remind you of a certain someone in Smallville season 8? And you know in Dragonball the purpose was 'bulldozing' for intergalactic real estate.

3. Clark Kent and sex, he's not getting any is he... poor guy. Though I've heard a 'rumour' regarding Lois...rumour/spoilers? )

In case you had not already heard, Season 9 of Smallville is happening! I'm so very thrilled!

I can fly!

BTW... I'm caught up with Smallville :-D

Sorry I didn't mention this before, but you know with work and the 1001 things a person wants to get done I forgot to mention that I caught up with Smallville on the weekend, early Saturday to be exact.

So, after watching the entire 7 ½ seasons in the matter of 3-4 weeks, do I still think the show is awesome? You betcha freaking oath I do!

The first few seasons were good and very entertaining, got me hooked, but I gotta say, the later seasons, it got EPIC!

Just in case... spoilers for what has aired )

Smallville

I'm a little bored (Filing at work). I'm feeling chatty about Smallville. I've reached season 7... really admiring Clark Kent's shoulders. Wondering how tall is Tom Welling?

Actually enjoying the tragi-romance of Clark and Lana, glad they are getting their time.

Can't stand Lex, can't wait for when he gets what's coming to him. Slimy creep.

Chloe is a saint! Lois Lane is AWESOME!

Oliver Queen.. gah... now that's cute. Yay! Dinah Lance! Can't wait for more Justice League!

Super Hero Flail

I've now seen the Smallville episode 2x17 'Rosetta'. OMG!

Hey, I have a question... in the Smallville series, does Clark ever get the hang of the flying thing, and if he does, what season/episode does this happen?
